Our news team hit all time highs on all major stats in the month of March. 60 contributors (up from 42) posted 1,155 approved articles (up from 719) that received 63.8 clicks apiece (up from 55.4).

March was the development team’s most active month in history. A whopping 104 pull requests covering 550 commits, (18 commits per day).

The results of some of these efforts are often invisible, but manifest in ways like the Telegram bot and website becoming blazingly fast with far less downtime.

You may have noticed this manifest in our highly publicized effort to fight bots in our Telegram channel. We’ve slain nearly 50K bots over the month, as we fight to keep the community safe from low quality AI models. Full details:

⚡ Async Scaling and Lightning-Fast APIs

To combat a bot-freeze caused by a flood of rapid edit commands, the team engineered an “Async Webhook DoS Shield,” migrating Telegram webhooks to non-blocking Celery and Redis tasks. On the frontend, a full-stack performance optimization slashed database queries from ~250 down to just 5-8 per page load. Paired with a new Next.js caching strategy, frontend response times plummeted from 2-4 seconds to under 100ms.

In other words, the site is now blazingly fast!

📱 The Progressive Web App (PWA) & Multi-Auth

Leviathan News is now a fully installable Progressive Web App featuring push notifications, offline support, and native mobile UI optimizations like notch support. The team also rolled out multi-auth, allowing users to log in seamlessly using Passkeys, Google OAuth, or Twitter/X OAuth without needing a Web3 wallet. It remains under testing, so report back your findings!

💰 Sponsored Ads and Editor Commissions

The Leviathan sponsored ads portal received an advertiser-friendly overhaul. As part of this update, the team introduced three new public pricing tiers: Newswire, Featured, and Breaking. Sponsors also gained a rich per-ad analytics dashboard.

🦑 Squid Cave Upgrades & Tag Taxonomy

Users can finally edit their comments after posting, complete with a transparent revision history. Behind the scenes, the community undertook a massive tag taxonomy cleanup, ensuring consistent Title Casing and precise regex mapping for thousands of tokens and crypto projects.

What It Is

The Squid DAO Bot is a self-hosted Telegram bot that provides real-time governance monitoring, automated alerts, AI-powered proposal summaries, and in-bot voting for the SQUID DAO. It serves as core infrastructure for DAO participation, lowering the barrier for token holders to stay informed and vote.

March 2026 Deliverables

• Operations: Monitored 2 Snapshot proposals across their full lifecycle, dispatching 12 alerts to the @SquidDAOalert channel
  • March SQUID Drop (Covering February) — 7 lifecycle alerts (new → started → 1d → 1h ending → ended)
  • Revenue Allocation & Lender Recovery Framework — 5 alerts (active at month-end)
• Continued on-chain governance monitoring of FolioGovernor events on Ethereum (1 proposal tracked, 6 on-chain alerts lifetime)
• 5 registered users with encrypted in-bot voting wallets

Development (17 commits, 14 merged PRs, +1,579 / −393 lines):

• 8 refactors — reduced complexity across OnchainMonitorService, TelegramBot, SnapshotService, MonitorService; extracted methods, flattened nesting, modularized GraphQL queries
• 4 test suites added — TelegramBot init, config.js, BotMonitor, SnapshotService (expanding coverage)
• 3 security fixes — SQL injection prevention (parameterized PRAGMA queries), XSS mitigation (quote escaping in escapeHTML()), dead code removal
• 1 performance upgrade — TTLCache rewritten with linked-list LRU, voting power caching, parallelized on-chain alert dispatch

Rationale

The bot is persistent DAO infrastructure — it runs 24/7, ensures no proposal goes unnoticed, and enables voting without leaving Telegram. Unlike one-time content contributions, it provides continuous utility that compounds as governance activity grows. A dedicated category recognizes this ongoing operational and development effort.
